Peaceful Vigil for Black Lives - now April 14th

  • Alameda City Hall 2263 Santa Clara Avenue Alameda, CA, 94501 United States (map)

NOTE: The vigil has been postponed one week so that ABL can stand in solidarity with Alameda Renters Coalition's push to end no-cause eviction on April 7. More information about how to join that effort is on ARC's Facebook page. Please also read our statement on rent control made to City Council on April 4.

ABL Peaceful Vigil:
Join your neighbors for a peaceful reading of the names of Black men and women killed in the US this year by police.

None of these killings have taken place in Alameda; we perform this vigil once a quarter to remember those lives lost and to affirm Alameda's commitment to the rights of Black people: for safety and justice and equality. Our Police have been invited to stand in solidarity.

Everyone is welcome to this peaceful demonstration. Bring signs, candles, kids, friends, reverence, outrage, optimism, peaceful intention, respect for all people, and resolve as we come together and say that Alameda stands for Peace, Equality, and Justice for all.

This event is preceded by Racial Justice Storytime at 6pm. Bring the family to listen to stories about creating community and being an upstander in solidarity with people of color.

RSVP not necessary, but you may to so at the Facebook Event (you will need to join our open Facebook group to RSVP). Separate RSVP for Racial Justice Storytime here.
